Web design for trades

You're good at what you do. The trouble is, most of your day is spent up a ladder, under a floor or in someone's loft, and that's exactly when customers are searching for you. Good web design for trades does the selling while you work. It shows people what you do, where you cover and why you're a safe pair of hands, then gets them to ask for a quote.

We're a Bristol team that has built websites for window companies, piling companies, towbar fitters, builders, and contractors since 2017. You deal directly with the people doing the work, and we stay on after launch to look after your site.

Built for trades

What every trades site needs.

A clear page for each service

Easy quote and contact routes

Reviews and recent work up front

SEO so customers find you on Google

The problem

Where the work goes missing.

Most tradespeople we speak to have a website that looks fine but rarely brings in an enquiry. The same few problems come up again and again.

You miss the call, you miss the job.

When you're on a job, the phone goes unanswered and the customer rings the next name on Google. Your website should take the enquiry for you, with a short quote form that works on a phone, so the details are waiting when you down tools.

We’re also developing an AI chatbot that could answer common questions and take enquiry details while you’re on site. It’s still in development, but you can try the demo.

You're paying for leads you have to share.

Lead sites send the same job to several other firms, and the cheapest reply often wins. Customers who find you through your own website come to you alone, so you're not racing anyone to reply.

Customers need to know you're not a cowboy.

They've heard the stories. Your reviews, your Gas Safe or NICEIC registration and photos of real jobs should be the first thing they see, not three clicks away.

The wrong enquiries eat your evenings.

Jobs outside your patch, work you don't do, people after the cheapest price. Clear service pages and area pages filter those out before anyone picks up the phone.

You want bigger jobs, not more call-outs.

If your site treats every job the same, you get a bit of everything. We give the work you want more of its own page, from rewires and full bathrooms to new roofs and extensions, so that's what people find.

You've been burned before.

Maybe a mate built your site, or a cheap web company vanished with the login. Once your site is paid for, you own the website and domain outright, with no tie-ins. The team that builds it stays on to look after it.

How it works for you

From their search to your phone.

Your website does the selling while you're on a job. This is what happens when someone near you needs a tradesperson.

01

They find you on Google. Someone searches for the job you do in the town you cover, and your page for it comes up.

02

They trust you before they ring. Your reviews, your accreditations and photos of real jobs are the first things they see.

03

They ask for a price in under a minute. A short quote form that works on a phone, or one tap to call.

04

The job lands with you. Their name, postcode and what they need, waiting for you when you down tools.

Who we build for

Websites for every trade.

Every trade has different customers and different questions. We plan each site around the work you want more of.

Electricians

Customers want to see your NICEIC or NAPIT registration before they ring. You get a page for each job you want more of, from rewires and consumer unit upgrades to EV chargers and EICRs.

Plumbers and heating engineers

A burst pipe and a new boiler are different customers. Emergency call-outs get a big click-to-call button, while boiler installs and bathrooms get a quote form. Your Gas Safe number sits where people look for it.

Roofers

People want to see the finished roof before they trust you with theirs. Galleries of real jobs, with before-and-after photos, do that. Separate pages for repairs, new roofs, flat roofs and guttering help you show up for each one.

Builders

An extension is a big decision. Completed projects, a clear picture of how you work from quote to handover, and an easy way to book a site visit help homeowners choose you over the other two quotes.

Window and door installers

Homeowners compare products before they compare prices. Plain guides to uPVC, aluminium and timber bring people to you already informed. It's the approach we took for Premier Windows.

Joiners, decorators and landscapers

Kitchens, staircases, a full repaint or a new garden all sell on photos. A page for each service and a gallery you can add to from your phone keep your best work in front of customers.

Included as standard

What your trades website includes.

Every trades site we build comes with these as standard.

A page for each service, so you show up for the jobs you want, not every job going

Pages for the towns you cover, so local people find you and out-of-area enquiries drop

Click-to-call and a short quote form that works on a phone, so you don't lose customers who won't wait

Your reviews up front, from Google, Checkatrade or wherever you collect them

Your Gas Safe, NICEIC, FMB or TrustMark badges where customers look for them

A gallery of recent jobs you can update yourself, so the photos on your phone start winning you work

SEO set-up, Google indexing and Google Analytics, so you can see which pages bring in enquiries

A site built to WCAG 2.1 AA, so every customer can use it, including on an old phone in bright sunlight

Testing against our 89-point checklist before launch, covering speed, devices and every form

Three months' hosting and care, a 60-minute training session and a 30-day performance report

Since it launched, organic traffic is up 134%, and the site now ranks in Google's top 3 for 86 searches, up from 14.

“Nivo delivered exactly what we needed: a website that clearly explains our products, supports our customers and reflects the quality of our work. The new site feels modern, informative and easy to navigate, and we’ve already seen stronger engagement from homeowners researching double glazing.”

Questions

Questions tradespeople ask us.

How much does a trades website cost?

It depends on how many service and area pages you need, and on extras such as online booking. You'll get a fixed price in writing after a free call, before any work starts. See our web design packages.

How long does it take?

Rebuilding an existing site usually takes 4–8 weeks from the first call to launch. A site for a new business takes 8–12 weeks. It can be quicker if your feedback comes back fast.

I'm on site all day. How much do I need to do?

Not much. Send us a list of your services, the areas you cover, your reviews and a batch of job photos from your phone. We plan the pages and can write the words for you.

Can I update it myself?

Yes. Your site is built in WordPress and Elementor, and a 60-minute training session is included, so you can add new jobs, photos and reviews whenever you like.

Will it get me found on Google?

Every page is set up for search and submitted to Google at launch. How quickly you climb depends on how many other trades are competing in your area. If you want to push harder, our SEO service adds Google Business Profile set-up and ongoing SEO.

Do I still need Checkatrade or other lead sites?

That's your call. Plenty of trades keep a listing for the reviews. A website that brings in its own enquiries means you're not relying on shared leads to fill the diary.

What about hosting?

Your first three months of hosting and care are included. After that, you can move onto one of our care plans.

I already have a website. Can you redesign it?

Yes. We keep the pages that already bring you work, and set up redirects so you don't lose your place on Google.
